Will GTA 6 have FiveM servers? What Rockstar has said

Rockstar has not announced FiveM support for GTA 6. Here is what is actually confirmed, why a PC release gates everything, and what to do until then.

The short answer, as of September 2026, is that Rockstar has not said. No FiveM support for Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. No replacement platform has been named. Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, has published development updates through 2026 that are entirely about Grand Theft Auto V, and none of them mention the next game. Anyone giving you a date is guessing.

That is an unsatisfying answer, so here is the useful part: what would have to happen first, and which of those things have actually happened.

What is confirmed

Rockstar's own game page for Grand Theft Auto VI lists two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a release date of 19 November 2026. Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026, and the announcement Take-Two published that day described the game as "a single-player experience".

Three things follow from that, and none of them are speculation:

  • No PC version has been announced. Not a date, not a window, not a store page.
  • No online mode has been announced. No name, no date, no feature list.
  • The launch platforms are closed consoles. PlayStation and Xbox do not let players load their own game files. Whatever eventually happens with GTA VI modding, it does not start there.

Why a PC release gates all of this

FiveM is a PC client. It attaches to a copy of Grand Theft Auto V installed on a PC and replaces the multiplayer layer. It has never run on console, and that is not a policy Rockstar could reverse with an announcement — it is how the platforms work.

So the dependency chain is:

  1. Grand Theft Auto VI comes to PC. Not announced.
  2. A sanctioned multiplayer modding platform exists for it, whether that is FiveM extended, a successor, or something with a different name entirely. Not announced.
  3. Server owners rebuild their cities on it, because years of Lua and asset work do not port by themselves.

Step one has not happened. Everything downstream of it is forecasting, including every site currently taking sign-ups for a "GTA 6 RP server".

Rockstar owning FiveM cuts both ways

Take-Two acquired Cfx.re in 2023. Before that, FiveM's legal position was genuinely precarious; since then it has become an official product, with a Cfx marketplace where creators sell scripts and assets and enforcement against pirated resources.

The optimistic reading is obvious. Rockstar bought the roleplay platform, so Rockstar intends to have one on the next game.

The cautious reading is just as reasonable. Being owned means the roadmap is now decided by a publisher with a launch to protect, and a company that has not committed to a PC version is not going to commit to a modding platform for a PC version. Cfx.re's own communication has been consistent about this: their published work is FiveM and RedM, on the games those run on today.

Both readings are plausible. Neither is evidence.

What has not been said, in plain terms

It is worth being blunt about the size of the unknown, because most of the writing on this topic is not:

  • Rockstar has not confirmed that GTA VI will ever support mods, on any platform.
  • Rockstar has not confirmed a GTA VI online mode.
  • Cfx.re has not announced a GTA VI product, a beta, a waiting list or a timeline.
  • No pricing, hosting requirement or server software for GTA VI roleplay exists to be discussed.

If a page tells you otherwise, check whether it names a source or just sounds confident.

What this means for you right now

If you play roleplay: nothing changes for a long while. The scene is on Grand Theft Auto V and will be for the foreseeable future, and the practical work of finding a city you like is unchanged — start with the FiveM server list and the guide to reading those listings.

If you run a city: do not hold back development waiting for an announcement that has no date attached. The most valuable thing you can own when a new platform eventually appears is not a script pack, it is a community and a staff team. Those transfer. Code does not.

And if you are pricing hosting for a move you assume is coming next year, the current cost breakdown is a better basis than a rumour, because it is built on what servers actually cost today.

We will update this page when Rockstar or Cfx.re says something on the record. Until then, "not announced" is the whole of the news.
