Terms of Service

The rules for using JoinGG, what you agree to when you list a server or buy placement, and — the part most terms pages avoid — what this site does not promise you.

What this site is

JoinGG is a directory of community-run game servers. It lists servers that their operators submitted, measures whether each one is online by querying it directly, and publishes articles about the games involved.

We do not host, own, operate or control any of the game servers listed. A listing is a pointer to somebody else's machine. What happens on that machine — the rules, the moderation, the other players, whether it stays online — is that operator's responsibility and not ours.

By using the site you agree to what follows. If you do not, do not use it.

Accounts

  • You need to be at least 16 to create one.
  • Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else is using your account.
  • One person, one account. Accounts created to manipulate votes or evade a ban get removed.
  • You can delete your account at any time by writing in through the contact page.

Listing a server

When you submit a listing you are telling us, and we are relying on it, that:

  • You run the server, or you have permission from whoever does.
  • The details are accurate, and the description is not written to make the server look like something it is not.
  • Its content does not break the law where it is hosted, and it is not a front for distributing malware, stolen credentials or pirated game clients.

Every submission is reviewed by a person before it appears. We can decline a listing, edit an obviously wrong field, or remove a listing later — usually for inaccuracy, abuse, or because the server has been unreachable for a long time. A server that simply goes offline is marked offline rather than deleted, because its uptime record is part of what the listing is for.

Submitting a listing gives us permission to display the details you provided, and to connect to the address you gave in order to read its public status. Nothing else.

Voting

Anyone can vote for a server, once per server per day. We recognise repeat votes without storing your IP address — the privacy policy explains how.

Using scripts, proxies, bots or multiple devices to inflate a server's vote count is not allowed. Servers caught doing it lose the votes and can lose the listing. This is not an idle rule: vote counts are the default ordering on most pages, so manipulating them takes visibility from somebody else.

Paid placement

We sell featured slots, banner placements, sponsorships and vote packs. Prices and what each includes are on the advertising page. Payment is handled by PayPal; we never see your card details.

Three things worth being explicit about:

  • Paid placement buys position and visibility. It does not change any measurement. A promoted listing shows the same player count, the same online status and the same uptime figure as any other, because those come from querying the server.
  • We do not promise results. Nobody can promise how many players a placement will bring, and any figure quoted as a guarantee would be invented.
  • Promoted listings are labelled where they appear, because an advert that reads as an ordinary listing is not something we are willing to sell.

Refunds

If a placement you paid for was not delivered, or was delivered wrongly, write in and we will refund the part that was not delivered. If you change your mind before a placement starts, write in and we will cancel and refund it.

We do not refund a completed placement because it did not produce the traffic you hoped for. If you are in the UK or the EU and have a statutory right of withdrawal on a digital service, this paragraph does not take it away from you.

Using the site properly

Do not:

  • Scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other people.
  • Try to break into accounts, the admin area, or the servers behind the site.
  • Submit listings, comments or articles that are unlawful, abusive or deceptive.
  • Impersonate somebody else, or claim a server you do not run.

We can suspend access for any of the above. For anything serious we will also report it.

Content

What you submit stays yours. By submitting a listing, an article or any other content you give us a non-exclusive licence to display it on the site and in the feeds and sitemaps the site publishes. You can withdraw it by deleting it or asking us to.

What we publish stays ours. The articles, guides, layout, code and branding on this site belong to JoinGG. Quoting a passage with a link back is welcome. Republishing a guide wholesale is not.

Game names, logos and trademarks belong to their publishers. JoinGG is not affiliated with Valve, Mojang, Rockstar, Facepunch or any other publisher, and nothing on this site should be read as their endorsement.

What we do not promise

The site is provided as it is. We work to keep the data accurate — every listed server is queried directly every fifteen minutes — but we do not warrant that it is complete, uninterrupted or error-free.

A player count is a measurement taken at a moment in time, and the moment has passed by the time you read it. A server that was online at the last check can be offline now. Treat the numbers as recent, not live.

We are not responsible for what happens on a server you find here, for content hosted elsewhere that we link to, or for a Discord community that a listing points at.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, JoinGG is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, and our total liability for anything connected to a paid placement is limited to what you paid for it.

Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, and nothing here affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away.

Ending it

You can stop using the site whenever you like and delete your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where it is reasonable to do so we will say why first.

Changes

These terms change occasionally. The date at the top is when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.

Law and disputes

The site owner needs to state the governing law and the courts that have jurisdiction here, which follows from where the operating person or company is established. This cannot be filled in by guesswork, and a terms page without it leaves any dispute unanchored.

Getting in touch

Everything — corrections, takedowns, refunds, ownership claims, complaints — goes through the contact page, and a person reads it.
