Will GTA 6 come to PC? What is known so far

No PC version of GTA 6 has been announced. Why that single missing detail decides the future of roleplay servers, modding and every community built on them.

Rockstar's game page for Grand Theft Auto VI lists two platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The release date is 19 November 2026. PC is not on that page, is not on the storefront listings, and has not been given a window in any Rockstar or Take-Two announcement.

That is the entire confirmed position as of September 2026. What follows is why it matters more than it looks like it should.

The precedent, labelled as precedent

Both of Rockstar's previous major releases came to PC after their console launches. Grand Theft Auto V arrived on consoles in 2013 and on PC in 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on consoles in 2018 and on PC in 2019.

From that, most people conclude a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI is likely eventually. That is a fair inference and we will not pretend otherwise. But two data points are a pattern, not a schedule, and the gap between them was thirteen months in one case and roughly nineteen in the other. Anyone converting that into a specific month is doing arithmetic on a sample of two.

Rockstar has not said. That is the fact; the rest is reasoning about the fact.

Why PC is the hinge for community servers

For most players a PC port is a question of frame rate and mouse aim. For anyone who runs or plays on a community server it decides whether the game has a community layer at all.

Everything that makes Grand Theft Auto multiplayer interesting outside of Rockstar's own servers is PC-only, for a structural reason: consoles do not let players load their own code or assets. FiveM works by attaching to a PC installation. Roleplay frameworks, custom jobs, MLO interiors, the entire economy of scripts and assets — all of it exists because a PC copy of the game is a copy you can extend.

So the chain runs:

  1. No PC version means no modding platform, which means no roleplay servers. Regardless of how popular the game is.
  2. A PC version makes a platform possible. It does not make one certain, and it does not deliver one at the same time.
  3. A platform still leaves server owners years of rebuilding, because scripts do not port between games.

That is why a missing line on a platform list is the most consequential unknown in this whole topic.

What Rockstar has said about mods generally

Worth separating from GTA VI specifically, because the two get blurred together.

Rockstar's stated position on its existing PC titles has been permissive towards single-player modifications that are non-commercial and do not use other people's intellectual property, and hostile to anything that affects official online services. Take-Two also acquired Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, in 2023, which brought sanctioned roleplay modding in-house.

Neither of those is a statement about Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar has not published a modding policy for it, has not announced modding tools, and has not said whether FiveM's successor exists. Treating the acquisition as a promise about the next game is exactly the kind of leap this topic is full of.

What to actually do about it

Nothing, is the honest answer, and that is fine.

If you play on community servers, the scene you are already in is the scene for the foreseeable future. The FiveM list is where the roleplay cities are, and the guide to choosing between them is unaffected by anything on this page.

If you run a server, resist the urge to plan a migration to a platform that has not been announced for a version of a game that has not been announced. The costs you can actually control are the ones in the 2026 hosting breakdown, and the work that carries forward is community work, not code.

The one thing worth watching

Not leaks, not store database entries, not a datamined string. A PC version becomes real when Rockstar puts it on the Newswire and adds the platform to its own game page — the same page that today says PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and nothing else.
