Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 8 Updates World Options and UI
Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 8 introduces pause menu World Options controls, Realms invite codes, data pack 116.0, and essential bug fixes.
Mojang released the Java Edition testing build for minecraft 26.3 snapshot 8 on 12 August 2026. This snapshot introduces dedicated invite codes for Realms, expands the World Options interface inside the pause menu, updates technical pack formats, and resolves numerous long-standing entity movement and desync bugs.
Interface and World Options Adjustments
Players and hosts exploring options in the pause menu have direct access to revised world configuration tools.
Game Mode Settings
The button previously marked Game Mode is re-titled Default Game Mode. Mojang added a Personal Game Mode option under the General section, reflecting your character's current active mode in the local session much like using the debug shortcut F3+F4 or issuing the /gamemode command. Within the Multiplayer section, a new toggle named Force Game Mode determines whether other connecting players are forced to take the world default mode upon entry.
Realms Invite System
Realms hosts can generate and administrate invite codes to permit player access without manual whitelist typing. Each Realm supports up to five codes simultaneously. Owners can configure codes with expiration rules, switch them between active and inactive states, or delete them outright. Clients enter these strings inside a newly added Join Realm menu.
Technical Changes for Data and Resource Packs
The snapshot increments the Data Pack version to 116.0 and bumps the Resource Pack version to 96.0. Custom server configurations operating through tailored datapacks must update their pack format tags.
World Generation and Template Additions
The world generation engine removes the minecraft:desert_well feature type. For structure templates, minecraft:template now accommodates a processors field accepting an inline list definition or namespaced identifier for structure processor lists.
Two placement and predicate tools expand generation control:
minecraft:randomly_selected: A placement modifier picking from a non-emptyplacementslist to delegate structure placement.minecraft:volume_match: A block predicate matching positions against an offset boundary defined byminandmaxinteger lists (restricted between -16 and 16) testing a specifiedmatchpredicate.
Rendering Shaders and Core Pipelines
Resource Pack 96 alters core UI shading. Mojang removed core/text_background.fsh along with core/text_background.vsh. The client now routes text backgrounds for Text Display Entities straight through standard text shaders. The OIT_FORCE_ZERO_DEPTH define is also cut because see-through text renders via an independent pass separated from Order-independent Transparency.
Server Administration, Data Pack Upgrades, and Stability
Testing snapshots against an active community requires watching save files carefully. When choosing an engine for custom worlds, reviewing our guide to Paper, Purpur or Fabric server software outlines how developmental builds interact with third-party software.
For administrators upgrading ongoing worlds, bug fix MC-310917 addresses previous corruption where chunk generation could fail on worlds carried over from earlier builds. Those running custom packs must also note that custom namespaces caused English (US) localisation failures (MC-310783), while earlier explorer maps loaded into saved hotbars could crash inventory recovery (MC-310729). Mojang provided no specific notes regarding plugin API compatibility, as native snapshot builds operate strictly on pure vanilla server jars. Player-Facing Gameplay and Movement Fixes
Players active across multiplayer networks will observe widespread improvements to client-server position tracking. If you are hunting for an active world to join, inspect the Minecraft server list to find live communities.
Entity Riding and Camera Sync
Several persistent camera and vehicle glitches are patched. Boat riders will no longer suffer camera stutter while steering (MC-122731) or face delayed third-person head movement (MC-258579). Passengers in boats now show correct head rotations to third-party observers (MC-236497), and dismounting while steering left or right will not lock character perspective (MC-237679). General input delay when mounting entities (MC-206540) and horizontal view rotation lag (MC-259512) have both been cleared.
Combat, Desync, and Exploration Mechanics
Projectiles no longer desync when fired while in motion (MC-280250), nor do experience orbs slip through nearby blocks (MC-310097). Teleporting entities visually drifting from their true coordinates on the client (MC-249200 and MC-44654) has been resolved. In villages, villagers level up and show new trading options even if an interaction screen remains open, and farmer villagers resume tossing excess wheat to others (MC-310632). Finally, cushions are now only destroyed when fully enclosed by suffocation-inducing blocks, preventing past x-ray glitches in third-person perspectives.
