FiveM Sollumz Update Reworks YMAPs for Modders
Cfx.re announced a FiveM Sollumz update rebuilding YMAP tooling, introducing MLO instancing, LOD baking, and texture dictionary exports.
Cfx.re announced a significant FiveM Sollumz update for the Blender mapping plug-in on 14 August 2026, crediting community contributor alexguirre for continuous collaboration. The release reworks core map generation, LOD configuration, and asset pipeline tools used by creators who supply custom world content across the FiveM roleplay servers ecosystem.
Core Mapping and YMAP Revisions
The fundamental pipeline for custom layout files has been restructured from the ground up.
Complete YMAP Architecture Rewrite
Sollumz now handles every capability supported by the GTA V 3D map format. Creators control map projects through a refreshed Maps tab located in the Blender Tools sidebar, aligning map compilation with the workflow already used when designing custom building shells and interiors.
Automatic Container Partitioning
Map groups set to Auto split contents cleanly across standard engine structures, including stream files (.strm), long containers, critical groupings, and per-interior entries. Users can revert manual configurations back to the automated setup or detach an automated container to hand-edit individual segments.
MLO Instancing
Placed copies of interior layouts can now be bundled directly into YMAP records. The dedicated MLO interface supplies a dedicated button that transforms an entire internal room structure into an individual, placeable object ready for positioning.
Visual Distance and Lighting Systems
Optimisation controls receive explicit tools to manage distance rendering and illuminate large areas correctly without manual coordinate mapping.
LOD Hierarchy Controls
Objects display depending on visual distance from the player, and Sollumz now preserves these relationships across separate exported YMAP files. In-viewport hierarchy tools allow authors to organise distance links using drag-and-drop operations, while safeguard checks block edits on incomplete trees to stop data corruption.
LOD Lights and Automatic Baking
The plug-in introduces full export and import support for simplified distance illumination. A specialised baking operator reviews all entities registered in a map set, categorises light parameters, and generates matching distant light structures without requiring outside scripts.
Materials, Presets, and Asset Library Generation
Asset packaging tools reduce dependencies on external format extractors.
YTD Texture Dictionaries
Sollumz can directly import and export native texture libraries (.ytd), with dedicated support for high-resolution (+hi) files. A dedicated inspector lets users assign textures individually or pull imagery automatically from existing shader materials.
Grass Batches and Asset Libraries
Surface foliage setups now support two-way transfer using configurable templates specifying visual bounds and model scales. Additionally, a new library generator parses standard archives—including Rage Package Files—to turn discovered YTYP entries and models into reusable asset libraries.
JSON Preset Migration
The settings system applies configurations across all active selections simultaneously and abandons XML storage in favour of JSON. Saved files sit under the user's Blender roaming appdata path, and Sollumz automatically transfers legacy XML presets on startup.
Server Administration and Deployment Requirements
Because Sollumz is an authoring tool rather than a server-side resource, updating Blender does not force server restarts or invalidate existing map streams. Server owners looking for gaming news, game updates and guides should note that the changelog details no runtime schema breaks for compiled map files. Streamed assets already placed inside active resources will continue functioning until developers re-export them using new partition schemes.
If you maintain active mapping projects, verify that your development team verifies their migrated presets inside %APPDATA%\Blender Foundation\Blender\<username>\config\sollumz\presets. Hosts wanting to promote custom map features can list their community on the JoinGG server directory to display their customized environments to incoming players.
What Players Will Notice
Players joining an updated server will not encounter gameplay interface shifts, but map loading will gradually feel smoother as map developers adopt automated partitioning and distance lighting. Incomplete draw distances, vanishing structures, and pop-in artefacts will decrease around newly compiled custom venues.
