FiveM Game Clients Release Winter Notes for Hosts

FiveM game clients release winter recap adds standalone Steam IDs, Rich Presence, and server build 24574 requirements for server hosts.

Cfx.re has published its game clients release notes for Winter '25/26, detailing the latest client and platform adjustments across Production, Beta, and Canary release channels. The headline shift in this FiveM game clients release winter overview is the complete transition away from legacy Source SDK Base 2007 identification to dedicated Steam App IDs for both FiveM and RedM, coupled with engine bug fixes and native deprecations.

Dedicated Steam App IDs and Rich Presence Integration

Cfx.re replaced the legacy Source SDK Base 2007 identification with distinct Steam App IDs tailored specifically for FiveM and RedM. This enables native runtime tracking on Steam, proper playtime accounting, and full support for the Steam Overlay, controller configurations, and automatic client launching.

Rich Presence and Party Grouping

Players running the updated client now broadcast detailed Rich Presence status on Steam. The profile activity reveals whether a user is navigating the main menu, loading story mode, or actively connected to an online environment. Steam friends playing on the identical server are automatically clustered together into Steam friend-list parties.

Authentication via Steam continues to operate across both the newly assigned App IDs and the older identifiers, avoiding disruptions for users logging into community instances.

Privacy Improvements and Core Client Refinements

Alongside platform tracking changes, the update alters user identity fallbacks and resolves recurring engine issues.

Fallback Usernames and Security Filtering

The client no longer reads local Windows user account names when an explicit alias or Steam persona is missing. To protect user privacy, FiveM now auto-generates randomised placeholder monikers using an adjective, an animal, and four numbers, such as "SleepyDuck6767" or "IcyGoose1337".

In-client URL handling now features warning prompts that notify players whenever a clicked link attempts to redirect them to an external website. Community members divocbn and xor submitted security reports via the Rockstar Games HackerOne vulnerability programme to address platform exploits, including a fix by divocbn that bounds vehicle entrypoint indices to safe thresholds to prevent crashes.

Stability and Synchronization Patches

Multiple community pull requests were integrated into the core runtime repositories. DaniGP17 contributed a fix preventing clients from instantiating duplicate CNetObjPlayer objects, added clip dictionary validation for SweepAim to prevent crashes, increased remote networked vehicle orientation blend limits to reduce visual jitter, and safeguarded EnvironmentGroup allocations to halt voice crashes when audio pools run out. In addition, the slow system performance warning dialog was stripped from citizen-devtools.

Other merged adjustments include Gogsi's fix for ped health decoding on build b3717 and later, ensuring GetEntityHealth functions on 14-bit data ranges. D4isDAVID addressed VFS path resolution by ensuring trailing slashes on directory device lookups. For asset builders referencing client markers, CritteRo added 36 blip identifiers covering IDs 922 through 957 from game builds b3570 and b3717 into the project documentation.

Server Requirements and Deprecated Script Features

Running these client-side Steam enhancements requires explicit server-side binary upgrades.

To allow joining players to broadcast Rich Presence details and benefit from Steam party grouping, hosts must run server artifact build 24574 or higher. Cfx.re strongly advises administrators to deploy build 27092 to incorporate all recent stability and backend fixes across their instances.

Script creators must also audit legacy loading screens. Developer LokiLeiche deprecated the SET_MANUAL_SHUTDOWN_LOADING_SCREEN_NUI native. Resource manifests should instead declare the loadscreen_manual_shutdown manifest flag to hold NUI screens open until SHUTDOWN_LOADING_SCREEN_NUI is explicitly invoked by code.

For server managers deploying instances across varied hardware, managing underlying binaries is critical, much like handling application tiers outlined in our guide on SteamCMD and app IDs. Ensure configurations comply with target artifact standards before restarting live servers.

What Players Will Notice When Connecting

When loading up the client, anyone connecting to a modern city on the FiveM server list will see FiveM or RedM listed directly in their Steam library activity rather than Source SDK Base 2007. Friends can check current roleplay sessions through Steam's social UI and see grouped lobbies.

Players who do not link Steam or fill in client profile aliases will see randomised names in chat instead of their Windows account names. In addition, vehicle motion on high-latency connections should exhibit reduced snapping or visual hitching thanks to the revised vehicle orientation blend threshold. Anyone curious about running early branches can also review our breakdown of the FiveM Enhanced client for context on how platform upgrades roll out.

Common questions

What server build is required for Steam Rich Presence to work?
FiveM servers must run build 24574 or higher for Rich Presence and Steam friends list grouping to function. Cfx.re encourages owners to update to build 27092.
How did fallback player usernames change?
FiveM no longer pulls your Windows account name when a username is not configured. The client now creates a random adjective, animal, and four-digit number combination, such as IcyGoose1337.
Which loading screen native has been deprecated?
The SET_MANUAL_SHUTDOWN_LOADING_SCREEN_NUI native has been deprecated. Resources must now specify the loadscreen_manual_shutdown setting inside their resource manifest instead.
