The 7 Days to Die 3.4.0 stable update adds inventory filtering, trader drone recovery, and quest crash workarounds for server hosts and players.

The 7 Days to Die 3.4.0 stable release is officially out, published by the game's official feed on 26 October 2026. Following earlier testing seen in the 7 Days to Die 3.4.0 EXP patch breakdown, this build delivers container searching, companion recovery at settlements, and essential crash mitigation for multiplayer servers.

Inventory Search and Item Adjustments

Storage handling receives targeted functional revisions in this build.

Backpack and Container Filters

A direct text input field alongside category buttons now appears inside both storage containers and player backpacks. Users can filter by item classifications or type an object's designation directly to locate supplies immediately during active gameplay.

Progression and Perk Rebalancing

Several books, meals, and progression items were adjusted to align with current backpack carrying limits:

  • Night Stalker Vol. 4
  • Steroids
  • Chicken Nuggets
  • Completed Fireman’s Almanac set

These modifications ensure inventory capacities interact accurately with existing player perks and consumables, building upon changes originally introduced in 7 Days to Die 3.3.0 stable.

Drone and Interface Fixes

Robotic companions and graphical inventory inconsistencies received several code adjustments in this build.

Robotic Drone Behaviour and Retrieval

If a player's deployable drone becomes trapped in terrain or disappears entirely, traders now offer a recovery dialogue option to retrieve the unit. Additionally, placed drones will no longer circle around the player.

Client and Interface Resolutions

Multiple interface and interaction errors were resolved:

  • The misleading "boosted" visual indicator no longer displays over standard items during multiplayer sessions.
  • Hotbar slot 10 items can be sold to vendors properly once again.
  • Moving gear into supply drops or dropped zombie bags via Shift + Left Click functions without throwing exceptions.
  • Vehicle container scrollbars now adapt correctly to installed storage modifications.
  • Soft-clipped NGUI panels restore previously missing block texture previews in scrollable backpacks.
  • Discord profile linking errors that prevented players from authenticating into accounts have been corrected.
  • Easy Anti-Cheat compatibility issues on macOS have been resolved, allowing client launches.
  • An NRE triggered during White River quest hand-ins has been eliminated.
  • GetSandboxOptions accurately displays modified values when listing all parameters.

Multiplayer Quest Crashes and Server Stability

Before deploying the update across your community or browsing the 7 Days to Die server list, server administrators and group leaders need to address a critical multiplayer quest defect.

Shared quests accepted prior to V3.4.0 can cause multiplayer servers and game clients to crash. The development team has confirmed they are actively investigating the issue, but hosts and players must implement a specific procedure to safeguard their worlds:

  1. Before connecting to a multiplayer game, navigate to Options, then select General, and open the General tab.
  2. Disable "Auto-Party with Allies", "Auto Share Quests", or both options.
  3. Connect to the multiplayer server.
  4. Clear every active pre-V3.4.0 shareable quest from your player journal. However, do not remove any quest that has reached the "Turn in" objective, as those do not cause crashes.
  5. Once all connected party members have deleted their older shared missions, you may turn the disabled options back on.

Other ongoing issues are present in this release. Client inventories currently suffer from a bug where locked slots reset their state whenever the bag interface closes. In addition, chunk decoration routines can generate a NullReferenceException on freshly generated worlds. Dedicated hosting configurations and mod compatibility notes were not specified in the release information.

Player Impact and Client Quirks

Players joining an upgraded server will notice immediate interface changes, alongside a few platform-specific bugs to avoid.

Beyond the convenience of searching chest storage, macOS users should note two language settings issues: connecting to servers or peer-to-peer matches while French client language is active will fail, and altering language settings inside MacOS freezes the game client completely, necessitating a forced shutdown.

Gameplay bugs still present in this version include non-functional triggers for the Euthanizer perk, miscalculated item sell counters, and an inability to directly consume provisions stored inside Campfire blocks without first placing them into player inventory slots.

Common questions

Why does my multiplayer game crash after updating to V3.4.0?
Multiplayer crashes in this build are caused by shared quests that were initiated prior to V3.4.0. Players must disable automatic party sharing in General Options and delete active pre-update quests from their quest journals to stop the crashes.
How can I recover a lost drone in 7 Days to Die V3.4.0?
You can visit any trader settlement and request drone recovery directly from the trader dialogue options if your drone goes missing or gets stuck.
Why do my locked inventory slots keep unlocking?
A known bug in V3.4.0 resets locked inventory slots whenever a player closes the backpack. The development team has confirmed a certified fix will be deployed once testing concludes.
